To avert floods and salinity intrusion, a system of embankments and sluices was created in the 1960s in the Lower Bengal Delta. However, the system became largely ineffective. People relinked the river channel to the floodplain. This process of reactivating tidal rivers is called TRM. TRM minimises consequences of climate change through elevated floodplains and natural drainage. Interested? Please check the documentary and booklet.
